A MAJOR scheme for Chorley's Royal Ordnance site could be hit after a Euro grant bombshell.
Furious council chiefs say the borough stands to lose £1m for the project.
They say the Government has changed the rules after supporting more than £1.2m grants from the European KONVER programme - for areas hit by defence job losses.
Chorley Borough Council claims less than a third of the North West's share of the £100m can go to non-assisted areas like Chorley. But other areas such as the South East will benefit.
Coun Lindsay Hoyle, chairman of the economic development committee, said: "We have suffered more than most. This money is going to areas that haven't suffered as badly."
