Birmingham Res 1, Wanderers Res 1 WANDERERS Reserves returned to action after a three week lay-off and took a point from their visit to St Andrews.
Both clubs fielded strong sides but it was City who had the initiative for the opening half and took the lead through on loan striker Marco Gabbiadini.
Bolton switched to a 4-4-2 formation for the second period and produced a much better performance which was rewarded with an equaliser from David Lee.
Birmingham's opener came in the 27th minute when a right wing cross from Paul Tait found John Frain at the far post. Wanderers 'keeper Gavin Ward could only fingertip his header and Gabbiadini was on hand to put the ball into an empty net.
Wanderers took command after the interval with Stuart Whittaker on the left and Lee on the right causing City defensive problems.
It was Andy Todd who set up the equaliser on the 75th minute when he won a 50-50 ball inside his own half. He ran forward and played in Lee who cut inside to shoot past a static Steve Sutton in the City goal.
Wanderers continued to look dangerous without being able to produce a clear cut opportunity in the final stages.
WANDERERS: Ward, McAnespie, Small, Todd, Coleman, Whitehead, Lee, Aljofree, Quinn (sub Minchella), Taylor, Whittaker.
