THE sun came out yesterday at Bolton's fish market, hooking droves of shoppers to stop and stare.
When fishmonger Mark Hayton was offered the chance to buy a spectacular rare breed of fish, he just had to take the bait.
The specimen was a Sun Fish - a round fish that varies in colour from bright orange with stripes to a grey/blue.
It was caught off the coast near Lanzarote and was flown into Manchester yesterday morning.
Mark plans to display it on his stall for several days and after that he will probably cut it up for the public to sample.
He outbid other fishmongers after being offered the fish by Smith-Segar, a Manchester wholesaler.
Mark said: "In all my time in the business I have only come across this type of fish once before.
"It was too good an opportunity to pass up when it was offered to me."
