A FURIOUS grandmother has blasted Bolton's "greedy" sportwear shops and claims they are sending the wrong message out to Christmas shoppers.
Brenda Hindle says she paid above the recommended retail price for a pair of Manchester United shorts - to discover they were on sale in a nearby shop for three pounds cheaper.
The grandmother of six, busy preparing her long Christmas present list, said: "It's disgusting that shops can do this. I know it is legal but it is just morally wrong.
"It could mean the difference between children having a present they want and not." Mrs Hindle, of Eden Street, Astley Bridge, said she had bought the shorts following this week's release of the Manchester United Christmas catalogue.
She added: "It's bad enough that these things cost so much money without greedy retailers banging up the price.
"Luckily, I've been in the retail trade for over 47 years and I know how they work. It's a good job I shopped around and I hope other people will be aware of the problem and do the same."
