SIR: Politicians from all parties are concerned about the education of children and so they should be! But you can give every single child in the country the finest education possible from playschool to University. Sadly all of that education will be defeated by the influence of visual so-called entertainment, television, computer games and video films.

Any young person in this day and age is at greater risk than ever before from a degenerate influence in society. But that young person is even at greater risk from the mindless outpourings of television. If allowed to, it will destroy the very soul of all mankind.

And how many kids have TV sets in the bedroom? It's no use blaming teachers and education for the way our young people behave. The blame should be laid squarely on the home and family life and for allowing children too much free access to visual junk.

Television is the teacher, not the one in the classroom and that can't be right!
