A NURSING home is to be built in place of a notorious former nightclub which was exposed as a mecca of teenage drug dealing.
Planning councillors have given the go-ahead for an 80-bed home on the site of the former Pleasure Drome in Church Street, Farnworth.
The club's licence was revoked by magistrates in 1992 after police and the Bolton Evening News exposed it is a den of teenage drug taking and dealing.
Now Bride Investments Limited plan to build the nursing home close to Farnworth town centre.
Planning officers have supported the scheme because they believe it will help regenerate the area.
Their report to councillors said: "This site is untidy and largely vacant. Its redevelopment as a nursing home would regenerate this area and would provide a community facility for the local area."
