PER Frandsen's sensational start to his career in England is expected to get the international seal of approval next week.
The Wanderers midfield ace is being hotly tipped for an international recall on Thursday when Denmark's new national coach names his squad for a friendly against France in Copenhagen on November 9.
Danish boss Bo Johansson scrapped a trip to Germany last weekend and flew instead to London to see Frandsen and his Bolton teammate Michael Johansen figure in the 3-3 draw at Charlton.
As Wanderers boss Colin Todd had indicated, Johansson was duly impressed with the two former FC Copenhagen players.
The Denmark coach plans to use the break from the pressures of World Cup qualification to check on certain players on the fringe of their regular squad and Frandsen, 26 and already capped three times by his country, is high on the list of possibles.
News of Frandsen's man of the match performance in the Coca-Cola Cup defeat of Chelsea has also been well received in Denmark. And his case for a recall has been strengthened by the expected withdrawal of Ipswich midfielder Claus Thomsen, who is currently sidelined with a groin problem and is likely to miss the friendly against France. Thomsen played in centre-midfield in a 4-4-2 formation when Denmark beat Greece 2-1 in their last World Cup game. Irrespective of whether Frandsen or Johansen are involved, Wanderers are sure to have three players on international duty over the November 9 weekend, which has now officially forced the switch of the Division One game at Birmingham to Wednesday, November 13.
Not surprisingly, skipper and record cap holder Gudni Bergsson has been confirmed in the Iceland squad for their Group 8 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Sunday the 10th.
That confirmation from the FA of Iceland plus the call-ups of Gerry Taggart for Norther Ireland's Group 9 qualifier in Germany and Nathan Blake for Wales' Group 7 game in Holland - both on Saturday the 9th - left Wanderers able to request the postponement under Nationwide League rules.
John McGinlay will learn on Thursday whether he keeps his place in the Scotland squad for their Group 4 game against Sweden at Ibrox on November 10.
The Burnden goal star, who hit his 11th goal of the season in last night's 2-2 draw at Barnsley, received his 10th international cap when he was involved in the three-second farce in Estonia earlier this month.
