SIR: It's a bit rich of Robert Wilson, the new Conservative candidate for Bolton North East, to condemn Peter Thurnham the old one, for crossing over to the Liberal Democrats. When Robert did exactly the same in his home town of Reading. Robert Wilson stood for Reading council as an SDP candidate first of all and it was only when he failed to win that he decided to try his luck with the Conservatives.
Perhaps the Liberal and Conservative team managers could just agree on a couple of free transfers with no fee incurred by either side. After all, both teams are desperate for some new blood, with Paddy Ashdown in need of an old right winger, and John Major in dire need of a new left back.
