Of all the cars I've ever bought
I'd really dropped a clanger
Many years ago I came across
This Ford Pop three speed banger!
In second gear, the engine roared
As if it was short o'breath.
By t'time you'd get it into top,
It dies an 'orrible death!
The crude suspension on that car,
Didn't half give me the hump
You had to pick the roads or else
You would feel every bump!
The vacuum wipers were a fright
The brakes and lights were shocking.
As for t'latter in the dead of night,
Was like a candle in a stocking!
While going into town one day,
I had to dodge a Rover
I swerved which made me hit the kerb,
And nearly turned it over!
I then said "Right, I've had enough",
I'd seen the light, no danger,
Never would I own again,
A Ford Pop three-speed banger! Mr B Howarth
Alexandria Road, Westhoughton.
