THERE are a few tickets left for the chamber concert on Friday, November 8, at Rivington Parish Church.
This small and ancient church makes a delightful setting for music and this will be the third in the 1996 concerts staged by Rivington Music Society.
The programme will be given by Misenus - a new chamber group brought together by Paul Payton. The ensemble will consist of piano, string quartet, flute, clarinet and soprano voice and will perform a varied programme.
Jacqueline Davies will play an early Mozart piano concerto, specially written to be played with a string quartet and David Greenhalgh will be the flautist in the Bach Suite No 2. Jill Taylor, who was praised for her role as Carmen with Opera 74 earlier this year, will be the soprano soloist in Mahler's Songs of a Wayfarer and Ravel's Chanson Madecasses.
Tickets for the concert plus dinner are sold out, but tickets for the concert only are availabe from Society members Isabella Leigh-Bramwell (01204 694913) and Peter and Sheila Tonge (01257 262958).
