PAM Hadcroft, the director of Tyldesley Little Theatre's pantomime for the last six years, has handed over to Frank Bowdler for this year's production of Dick Whittington.
Wishing Frank every success, Pam said: "Directing the panto is extremely hard work, more so than a play because of the number of cast members, usually about 25-30, and the songs and choreography that needs to be arranged, as well as the acting.
"It takes an enormous amount of organising months in advance, and this year I decided to give myself a rest so that I can concentrate on other things including my family and my job as Social Secretary at the theatre."
Frank, who has co-directed many pantomimes at St George's's Tyldesley, recently retired as art teacher from Fred Longworth school and thought he would have plenty of time to direct.
"I don't know how I found the time to work," he said. "Organising the panto is a full time job - but it's going to be worth it. The panto will be a stormer!"
Frank is also playing Dame in the show.
Tickets are available from the Box Office on 01942 897149 or the theatre on 01942 886908 on Tuesday evenings. The show runs from November 28 to December 7.
