FULL marks to Bolton Euro MP Gary Titley for firing a salvo on Bolton's behalf, in the local bid to have a new northern home for the Imperial War Museum sited in Farnworth.
Our town - one of six possible locations on a final shortlist of sites for the museum, which would create hundreds of jobs and boost the local economy of any area in which it is built - is well qualified to have the project within its boundaries.
Apart from our proud record in the fight for freedom over the years in both world wars and other conflicts, we endorse Gary Titley's point about the area having excellent communication links, with any such museum in Farnworth being within each reach of many people likely to visit such a famous tourist attraction.
Such a museum would not glorify war, but serve as a reminder of the price that often has to be paid to defeat tyranny and achieve just and worthwhile peace between nations.
