SIR: With the leader of Socialists, Tony Blair refusing to condemn the abortion of the living yet unborn human beings, yet at the same time trying to be portrayed as a devout Christian, seems through my eyes, and undoubtedly many others, to be playing the role of the religious type that Christ himself argued against, the Pharisees. Those men who preached one thing but allowed the practice of the other to continue.

It would seem that in his (Blair's) attempt to be all things to all men, that he wishes not to offend those who wish to devalue humanity, by arguing the pro choice, and who are now beginning to argue that euthanasia should be legal (how long before a compulsory age limit when the aged outnumber the young). It would seem that perhaps that he has modelled himself on another New Testament character who considered himself pious and true, but who when faced with a baying mob failed to protect the innocent, but allowed death to take its toll of the innocent - Pontius Pilate.
