SIR: This year's Remembrance Sunday Service and March Past will take place at the War Memorial on The Town Hall Square on November 10, at 10.50am and I would like to extend an invitation to all residents of the borough to join me to remember the servicemen and women who gave their lives for their country.
The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal exists to help former servicemen and women, and all others like them, who have been involved in conflicts going back to the First World War, and to support all those who have defended our country or helped keep the peace on behalf of the UN elsewhere in the world.
The sterling work of the Royal British Legion has continued since it was founded 75 years ago, and there are now some 3,000 branches with around three quarters of a million members across the United Kingdom.
Greater Manchester County has the greatest take-up of Legion benevolent assistance within the country. I hope the people of Bolton will give generously again this year. Thank you for any help you can give.
Cllr Eric Johnson, Mayor of Bolton
