MUSICIANS with Eagley Brass Band have enjoyed an October of note . . . taking their competition prize tally to £1,200. The band was placed runner up in the Second Section of the 1996 National Pontins Brass Band Championships.
The contest took place at Prestatyn, Wales, where the band picked up a cheque for £700.
The success comes on the heels of victory at the Burtonwood Breweries Brass Band Championships.
Eagley gave the final performance of the day. Each band played the set test piece, 'Morning Rhapsody' by Eric Ball. The winner was the Jayess Band from Yorkshire.
The band next perform in Bolton on Saturday, November 9, when they officially open the newly extended Marks & Spencer store in the town centre at noon.
The following morning, as every year, Eagley Band will lead the Remembrance Service Parade in Little Lever, at 10.30am.
They will also be turning on the town centre Christmas lights after the street parade to Victoria Square on Thursday, November 21, at 6.30pm, finishing with carols on the town hall steps.
