THE Football League is investigating Wanderers' protest over Sky TV's controversial interview with referee Bill Burns during the half-time interval at Barnsley.
The Scarborough official was said to be "distraught" when he was told by Sky that the penalty he awarded Wanderers in the second minute was for a tackle that occurred well outside the area. He later awarded Barnsley a penalty in similar circumstances, which earned the Tykes a 2-2 draw.
Burnden boss Colin Todd described Sky's actions as "diabolical" and the club has now taken up the matter with the League.
"We don't want it to look as if it's sour grapes," chief executive Des McBain explained, "but we have made approaches to the Football League and we are waiting to hear what they have to say."
