SIR: I am responding to the story concerning Karen Chapman (October 22) the single mum whose housing benefit of £65 per week doesn't cover her rent of £85 per week.
I am 'in work' contributing to her benefits and I certainly couldn't afford rent of £65 per week let alone £85 per week.
I feel single mums (and dads in some cases) are getting a 'free ride' in life and it should be stopped.
I don't mind my contributions going to the genuine claimants - but it shouldn't go to people who expect everything to be provided for by the workers.
Also is there a link between single parenthood and wayward children out of control?
