A SECOND major leisure firm has signed up for the development at Watersmeeting in the Tonge Valley.

Details will be officially announced by Government Minister Alistair Burt when he visits Bolton on Monday.

Mr Burt will take controls of a digger to mark the start of work on the extensive £25 million entertainments complex.

Virgin has already announced plans to build a multiplex cinema on the 12 hectare site off Watersmeeting Road.

And Mr Burt will name the operator of the nightclub and health and fitness centre.

The development is a partnership between Chester-based leisure specialists THI plc, Bolton City Challenge and Bolton Council.

Bury North MP Mr Burt is the Minister who has special responsibility for Bolton City Challenge which has received £37.5 million of Government money to transform the Halliwell area.

Earlier in the day, Mr Burt will also visit the 3Ds partnership, a new initiative to revitalise the Deane, Derby and Daubhill areas.

The Minister will see plans for a new school and health centre and will join youngsters in a basketball match at Pikes Lane County Primary School.
