COLIN Todd can take a large slice of the credit for Per Frandsen's international recall.

Of course it's the player's form that has convinced Denmark's national coach Bo Johansson to include him in his 18-strong squad for the friendly against France in Copenhagen next Saturday.

But he would have faced a much longer wait if the Wanderers' boss hadn't been so persuasive

Todd saw Denmark beat Greece 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier last month but was so sure Frandsen could improve their midfield that he pressured Johansson to re-arrange his schedule and make a special trip to see him play.

The Danish boss scrapped plans to watch games in Germany and flew to London instead to see Wanderers play Charlton and reflected on a fruitful trip today when he said: "I saw him at Charlton and everything about him was very positive.

"Now I will give him his chance."

Frandsen, who is expected to take over from injured Ipswich midfielder Claus Thomsen in the offensive midfield position a 4-4-2 formation, is one of three newcomers to the highly-rated Danish squad.

Skipper Michael Laudrup, currently playing with Vissel Kobe in Japan, won't play in Copenhagen but younger brother Brian will, along with English-based stars Peter Schmeichel (Man Utd), Marc Rieper (West Ham), Jacob Laursen (Derby) and Allan Nielsen (Spurs).
