THE END of October has passed us by already and it's time for clubs and leagues to send in nominations for this month's Bolton Wanderers Goldline Local Player of The Month Award!

This superb official recognition of a player's achievement on the local soccer scene has been sponsored by Andrew Dean, who runs the Burnden Park Daily Draw.

The winner will be the Bolton area player adjudged from the list of nominations to have made the most outstanding playing contribution over the month of October in his club's cause. Entries will be considered from any of our local clubs and leagues.

In recognition of his (or her) achievement the lucky winner and his guest will be invited along to what promises to be one of many top games at Burnden Park in its last ever season - Bolton Wanderers versus Tottenham Hotspur in the Coca Cola Cup Fourth Round tie to be played on Wednesday November 27.

The winner will be presented out on the pitch prior to kick off with a superb crystal glass engraved trophy which would take pride of place in any household for many years to come!

Details of his achievement will be included in the match programme and read out over the PA system at Burnden Park when the presentation is made. Obviously, we will be printing photographs and details here in the Bolton Evening News.

One player that can certainly vouch for what a thrill it is to win this award is Manny Beattie of Daisy Hill Football Club. He was selected by Andrew from a top class field of seven nominees for September as being the player that, In Andrew's opinion, had done that incredible little bit extra in the games played over the month to help his team-mates and his club.

Mannie, accompanied by his brother Kirk, went along to the Tranmere Rovers game (there were also 11 other members of family and friends sat in the stand) and one of the biggest receptions of the night came when he received his trophy off the Burnden Park player of his choice - Phil Brown!

Throughout the night shouts of 'congratulations' were coming his way from all directions and, if you take a look in the Chelsea programme, you'll see just how pleased Manny was with the whole event from the size of his smile when he was pictured alongside Andrew and Phil Brown! He has since been presented with a framed, signed copy of the photograph to accompany his trophy!

Manny commented: "I just can't thank Andrew enough for instigating this award and I'm still pinching myself to think, that I've actually won the first one. It is an incredible boost for local soccer that the Wanderers are doing something as unique as this!"

Whose name will be entered as the second ever on the Bolton Wanderers Goldline Local Player of The Month Scroll of Honour!

Please send nominations to: John Bullen, 14 Hill Crest, Atherton, Manchester. M44 9GY or phone in details to 01942 874719.
