SIR: During the Parliamentary debate on the Queen's Speech we were treated to yet another example of the kind of confused leadership Mr Major provides with his embarrassing U-turns on stalking and paedophilia. Is it really good enough when government policy is decided on the hoof in a hasty two minute meeting on the front bench?
The paucity of ideas in the upcoming legislative programme and the complete lack of vision shown by the Conservative party is is complete contrast to the forward looking policies outlined by Labour which offer new hope after years of stagnation under the present government.
Labour's five early pledges on education, health, crime, employment and the economy show that, unlike the Conservatives, they are committed to change for the benefit of the majority of people in Britain, not just the privileged few.
