Quite by chance, some years ago,
We found this lovely isle,
So unspoilt and peaceful
We had to linger for a while
Herons strutted on the banks
Of streams so crystal clear
And there upon the hillside
Moving slowly were the deer
Seals came up the Gulf Stream
They entertained us with their play
We strolled along the coastline
Discovering each new bay.
No sound of heavy traffic
To mar the summer's day
No litter or graffiti
Did we see along the way
We walked along the country lanes
On the beaches children ran
It must be Scotland's pride and joy
This lovely Isle of Arran. J Brown, Mossfield Road, Kearsley
