A T-shirted youth went to work with a spray can on a wall of AMEC Developments' plush premises in The Anchorage, Salford Quays - while VIPs looked on and clapped their approval.

Acclaimed NW graffiti artist Daniel Coyle was there to demonstrate his skills at the opening of The Youth Charter for Sport's new North-west headquarters at the AMEC building.

And watching him transform a wall into a striking mural - commissioned by AMEC - were Olympic rower Steven Redgrave and soccer legend Sir Bobby Charlton.

The new Youth Charter for Sport HQ was opened by the Duke of Westminster and aims to "bridge the growing gap between youth culture and mainstream society."

Already a whole range of schemes are off the ground, providing young people with opportunities for personal development through sport.

Many well known names from sport, including world champion cyclist Chris Boardman, were at the event.
