It WAS a bad day for Bolton Combination sides in the 2nd round of the Lancashire Adidas Amateur Shield.
Three sides crashed out leaving Premier Division leaders Seedfield Sports Club as the only representative going into the draw for the next round following a fine 4-2 win over Manchester League side Milton.
AFC Walkers went down 6-1 at Wigan Colleges with Kingsley getting the consolation goal, Hindsford slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Daten and Walkden AFC were unable to make home advantage count in a 3-1 scoreline to Yorkshire Copper Tube, Britten getting a late Walkden goal.
In the BEN Open Cup 2nd Round, Premier Division Bolton Lads Club amazingly stormed to an eventual 6-1 extra time win after being held 1-1 in the 90 minutes by first division strugglers Tyldesley United.
Price had given the visitors a lead two minutes before half time, only for Williams to equalise for United in the next to last minute. The extra period saw Lads Club immediately run riot with three goals in four minutes from Stewart (91), France (93 - pen) and Ford (94). Mitchell and Samuels rounded it off with further strikes on 120 and 123 minutes.
Another game to go to overtime was Kersal Vale's 4-2 win at Atherton C&N. Brothers Steve and Stuart Harris were on the mark for the home side with Davenport and Stott replying. The Eccles outfit made sure with goals from Riding (100) and Phillips (102).
Paul Davis had statisticians ploughing through the league records when he scored after only nine seconds to set Stoneclough on the way to a 8-2 win over Ainscough Reserves!
This quick-fire strike was made even more amazing by the fact that it was the visitors who kicked off. A ball knocked back to the full back was charged down by Davis and he let fly first time into the top corner! He went on to bag a hat-trick, with brothers Chris and Arthur Harrison also on the scoresheet, plus Charlton and two from Hilton. Gregory and Matthews replied for the visitors.
Ainsworth's first team made sure of a place in the third round with a 5-2 win at Howe Bridge Mills. First division Brindle Heath saw off a strong challenge from second division clear leaders Atherton S&S with strikes from Lowe, Buckley and Jones earning a fine 3-0 win.
In the Premier Division, Kersal Lads Club banged nine past Ambassadors for no reply with Lomax the day's top scorer as he hit the mark four times.
In Division 1 leaders Mitchell Shackleton beat bottom club Monton Amateurs 3-0 to open up a three point gap at the top over Adlington Athletic who had no game.
