THE Bolton Boys Federeation failed to make progress into the further stages of the Lancashire FA under 18's Inter League competition, when they were defeated at home against a strong South Lancs League side 3-1.

South Lancs took a well deserved lead on 25 minutes when Damien Webber headed in a free kick unchallenged by the Bolton defence who were all at sea. With the Bolton side pressing for an equaliser and defences on top the score at half time remained 1-0 to South Lancs. After 64 minutes South Lancs went further ahead when Barry Lowe struck home from just inside the box.

They sealed the game two minutes later with a second goal for Barry Lowe when he struck home from out on the left wing. Bolton hit back with a late consolation goal when Richard Cartwright spotted the South Lancs goalkeeper on walkabout off his line and he chipped the ball over his head from fully 30 yards out.

FANTASTIC WIN

Under 18's A section side Atherton Colls continued their fine run of results when they won a close game at home against Walshaw Sports 5-4 with a brace from David Devall, further goals from Neil Cowburn, Mark Gregson and a magnificent 60 yard 'wind assisted' shot by Martin Smedley.

In the Under 18s Section B Farnworth Boys B seem to be getting it together after a fantastic 8-2 away victory against Tottington Utd with Matt Halliday grabbing four of his side's goals. In the same section AFC Bolton and Dobbies shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

In the Lancashire FA Youth Cup 3rd round it was a good day with three federation teams going through to the next stage of this prestigious competition. Bolton County won 3-0 away at Dean Sports Youth with a goal each for Phillip Conroy, John Kay and Ryan Cain. Pennington also won 3-1 at home to Little Lever Sports Club with goals from Stephen Small, Danny Coulton and Daniel Wilcock. The other side to win was Leigh RMI they won 3-2 at home to West Lancs Colts in a close fought game. Leigh RMI were at one time coasting 3-0 up with goals from Andrew Stevenson 2, and David Bullough. In the league games played Deans Youth won 3-0 at home to Rossendale and AFC Bolton also won 3-0 at home against Astley Bridge.

In the Under 15's Section B Blackmoor HF won yet again to stay top of the table their victims this time being Horwich St Marys who they defeated 9-2 away thanks mainly to a five goal haul from Reece Whittle and P Barber hat trick, further strikes from J Griffith and R Jameson wrapped up the game for Blackmoor HF. In the same section Fife Rangers won 9-2 away at Oxford Grove with double strikes from D Spence, S Cowell and A Fearnley.

IN the Under 14's section Bolton Lads Club had an easy victory against Great Lever Boys 9-2 with S Robinson scoring seven of his side's goals, Westhoughton Rangers had a fine away victory 5-2 at Hindsford Colts with a brace for A Clough.

In the Under 11's Cubs section A AFC Bolton B got back to winning ways after last week's setback when they won 9-1 at home to Hindley Juniors with Yamin Patel scoring seven of his side's goals. AFC Bolton A also added to their 100 per cent record when they won 5-0 at home to Bolton Lads Club B with goals shared by L Harrison, C Slater, D McKay, M Walsh and T Aspinall. In the same section Elton Fold won a close game 3-2 at home to Westhoughton Rangers and Astley Bridge also won 4-2 away at Clarence Athletic with a hat trick for C Young.

In the Under 12's junior section Bolton Lads Club had an easy 9-1 victory at home to Withins. C Grimshaw grabbing four of the goals, there were also wins for AFC Bolton at home to Ladybridge with double strikes from G Cunliffe, C Cankalis and N Smith. Freestyle Rovers were too strong for Hindley Juniors on their travels when they came out winners 7-1. Walshaw Sports picked up two points in a close away win 1-0 at Westhoughton Rangers and Astley Bridge won 5-3 at home to Oxford Grove with a hat trick for M Gordon.
