LEIGH'S New Zealand stand-off Alan Mason leaves for France tomorrow keen to make a new start after his Hilton Park career hit the rocks.
Maori Mason, a free agent since being released by Leigh at the end of the season, is to join Palau, a sister side of the world-famous X111 Catalan club.
The New Zealand Maori representative joined Leigh at the start of last season with a big reputation. But after a promising start to his Hilton Park career his form dipped and he finished the season out of the first team. Chairman Mick Higgins today wished Mason well and said that he hoped the Kiwi's talent would flourish in the south of France.
"There's no doubt that Mason is a gifted player but he never really settled with us. He would be the first to admit that he never reproduced the sort of form he's capable of.
"The French deal is a good one for him and his family and we wish them well for the future."
Leigh conclude their interviews today for the vacant coaching position at the club.
An annoucement is expected either tomorrow or Friday.
