CHORLEY 3 HYDE UTD 3 TWO late goals by Hyde denied Chorley maximum points against the Unibond League draw specialists in an entertaining clash at Victory Park.
Indeed, amazingly, Hyde have drawn half of their 18 league games to date. This, though, was one they should have won as they enjoyed considerable territorial advantage but Chorley certainly took their chances.
Hyde were soon on the attack and Carroll blazed an early chance over before the Magpies somehow survived an amazing scramble during which Kimmins, Carroll and Nolan all had shots cleared off the line.
However when the first goal arrived in the 25th, it was Chorley who scored it rather against the run of play. Fleming and Mayers combined to put Blackstone through and the striker kept his head to slip the ball past the advancing Jones. Five minutes before half-time Hyde were gifted the equaliser following a real comedy of errors.
Chorley made a mess of a free-kick and Trundle's over-elaboration allowed Hyde to clear. There still seemed little danger as Wright chased back but for once Mr Dependable failed to live up to his name, and James pounced on his underhit backpass to shoot past Marsh.
Within a minute, though, the Magpies were back in front when Blackstone burst down the left to deliver a superb chip to the far post which Haw met with an unstoppable downward header.
Ten minutes into the second half Chorley made it 3-1. Trundle produced a wonderful run down the left before unselfishly squaring the ball for Blackstone to sweep it under the diving Jones. Shortly afterwards Blackstone limped off and with him went a lot of Chorley's forward power.
Hyde gradually got on top and the Chorley defence came under increasing pressure. Just when it seemed they would hold out they failed to clear a loose ball and Wright's tackle produced a penalty which Nolan hammered in. With four minutes left Hyde got the equaliser their pressure merited.
From a throw-in near the corner flag, the ball was laid off to Gallagher who thundered an unstoppable shot into the top corner from way outside the box. Ultimately it was a fair result.
This Saturday Chorley are at home again when they entertain Bishop Auckland.
