BOLTON Youth Orchestra delighted audiences in Paderborn, Germany, where they took part in the town's British Cultural Festival. During their five-day visit to Bolton's twin town, the choir performed a number of concerts in a variety of venues. Their tight schedule involved performances at a Victorian Tea Party in the Town Hall and at Sunday Mass in the town centre's Baroque church.
They also provided entertainment for a private dinner party.
The highlight of the tour was a formal concert in in the Kaiserphalz Concert Hall.
Among the items they sang were Byrd's Though Amaryllis Dance in Green; Vaughan Williams' The Dark Eyed Sailor and The Lover's Ghost and a Beatles' Medley including Penny Lane. There was also a piano recital of a Rachmaninov Prelude by 15-year-old Jeni Wilding, a choir member.
