SIR: I wonder if your correspondent Mr Pearce (Viewpoint October 29) would be so kind to enlighten me as to the park he uses to exercise his dog as I have yet to see anybody in the UK using a poop scoop.
Perhaps the council could also state how many prosecutions have been brought for dog fouling over the many years the legislation has been in effect.
We appear to have made the capital investment in signs but not in enforcement. In the USA I have seen people having $50 fines written on the spot.
Finally, if your readership includes a bacterial biologist maybe he could inform your readers as to the life of the harmful bacteria contained in dog faeces.
