BOLTON West Labour party is to urge a housing developer to take action at an accident blackspot. The party has agreed to take up the case of residents on The Hoskers in Daisy Hill following a number of accidents on the notorious bend. Residents are concerned that it is only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs.

Cllr Linda Thomas said that it was important that something should be done. However she said it could be difficult because the road was unadopted.

Cllr Thomas said: "There have been a number of accidents on this bend so it is important that action is taken soon before someone is seriously injured.

"Unfortunately the road is unadopted, therefore any measures that need to be implemented are the responsibility of developer Metrolands."

Labour's prospective parliamentary candidate for Bolton West, Ruth Kelly has agreed to contact the developer in a bid to solve the problem.

Mrs Kelly said: "The fact that this bend is so close to St George's Primary School makes it even more important that Metrolands act quickly.

"I will point out to them that as they have

benefited very nicely out of this development, it is only fair that they use some of that money to protect the very people who have brought houses here. The Labour Party has pledged to implement speed restrictions outside of schools, but clearly in this case something has to be done about the hazardous bend further along the road."
