NOMINATIONS have been rolling in this week for the October Bolton Wanderers Goldline Local Player of the Month Award!

Clubs, leagues, or maybe just team-mates, have until 5pm Tuesday evening to get nominations in for their choice as the player on the local scene whose soccer achievement over the month merits some kind of official recognition.

This competition is sponsored by Andrew Dean, who runs the Burnden Park Daily Draw. The winner will be the Bolton area soccer player adjudged by Andrew from the list of nominations to have made the most outstanding playing contribution over the month of October in his club's cause.

In recognition of his (or her) achievement the lucky winner and his guest will be invited along to what promises to be one of many top games at Burnden Park in its last ever season - Bolton Wanderers versus Tottenham Hotspur in the Coca-Cola Cup 4th Round tie to be played on Wednesday November 27.

The winner will be presented out on the pitch prior to kick off with a superb crystal glass engraved trophy which would take pride of place in any household for many years to come! Details of his achievement will be included in the match programme and read out over the PA system at Burnden Park when the presentation is made. Obviously, we will be printing photographs and details in the Bolton Evening News. I did receive one phone call asking if it was OK to nominate someone from Sunday football. The answer is YES. This superb award is open to all ranges of senior amateur and semi pro local soccer, male and female, age 18 to veteran and beyond! Basically if you can buy the Bolton Evening News at your local newsagents you are within the geographical boundaries!

Whose name will be entered as the second ever on the Bolton Wanderers Goldline Local Player of the Month Scroll of Honour?

Please send nominations to: John Bullen, 14 Hill Crest, Atherton, Manchester M46 9GY or phone in details to 01942 874719 by Tuesday at 5pm.
