THE Houghton Weavers were the toast of Fourgates County Primary School when they performed free to raise funds for the Parent Teachers' Association.
And PTA members at the Westhoughton school were so overjoyed at the success of the event, they presented each of the four Weavers and their sound man with an inscribed cut glass tankard as "thank you" tokens.
The evening of folk music and fun was held at Wingates Labour Club - which the Labour Club members gave free - and it was a sell out.
As a result, £913 was raised to buy "extras" for the school which are not provided for in the LEA budget.
As well as performing for no fee, the Weavers even provided raffle prizes to boost the amount raised.
