OSCAR-winning favourites, Wallace and Gromit, are to be made honorary life members of the University of Central Lancashire Students' Union.
A letter has been sent to their creator Nick Park, himself an honorary fellow of the university at Preston.
Union president Mike Groves said: "The Students' Union wanted to pay tribute to Wallace and Gromit who we feel are the cornerstone of Nick's success."
The plasticine heroes have starred in three films: A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave. The Students' Union is hoping to display an autographed photograph of the two stars in its building in Fylde Road, Preston.
Mike said: "We have invited Wallace and Gromit, along with Nick Park, to come and unveil the photograph but we don't yet know the outcome of that."
