THE long-awaited signs to Bolton at the M6/M61 junction will be in place by the end of March.
Roads Minister John Watts has promised town MP Tom Sackville that the word Bolton will be added to Manchester when the signs are repainted in the coming two months.
Home Office Minister Mr Sackville has been leading the campaign to get Bolton put on all relevant motorway signs for two years.
And now he is delighted that this key junction will no longer merely point people to Manchester, but flag up Bolton as well.
Mr Sackville said: "I am delighted that this is going to be done at last.
"Bolton is a town with a population of 250,000 and clearly should be marked on road signs.
"It is absurd that a little place like Blackburn, which is a tiny place in the middle of the moors, should be on M6 road signs, but a town with a population of Bolton should be ignored."
