BOLTON RUFC produced another steady performance to beat Old Bedians 18-5.
A fine Dave Daubney try got them off to a good start. Keiron Hunter had a competent debut and full back Damien O'Brien added a try. Captain Nick Holmes made sure of the game with some impressive kicking, putting over a conversion and two penalties.
The top of the table seconds won 14-3 at Old Bedians seconds. Tries by Stuart Rodgers and Steve Mullineaux were converted by Mike Ince.
The third team had a hard-fought 10-10 draw at Old Alwinians fourths. Centres Simon Clarke and Greg Nichol, who both scored, were a constant danger and the hard working pack was impressive with Nick Kennedy the star.
Bolton 4ths also at Old Bedians lost 28-12. The forwards did everything right but the speed of the home backs was tremendous and that made the difference. Tries by Dave O'Byrne and Mark Shields were aded to by a Terry Knapman conversion.
Bolton Vets had the Yorkshire side Old Rishworthians Vets to Avenue St. and in a fine game in ideal conditions they lost 31-17 in a game that after the first quarter they threatened to win.
