HIGH-FLYING Radcliffe Boro reached the semi-final of the President's Cup after beating Premiership side Alfreton 3-1 at Stainton Park last night.
It is the second last four spot for the league leaders after reaching the semis of the Divisional Cup and manager Kevin Glendon was absolutely delighted.
"We have played several Premiership sides along the way and we have not looked out of our depth, which is a good sign for next season if we do get promoted," said Glendon.
"This was a brilliant team performance with Jason Ashley, back from suspension, particularly outstanding, but give credit to Alfreton who contributed to a cracking game."
Ashley was instrumental in the first goal for Ian Lunt's 26th of the season after only 90 seconds and the second in the 54th minute when Colin McCrory swept the ball home.
The Yorkshireman had hit back on the half hour when Mick Farrelly's 40 yard back pass stuck in the mud and Phil Stafford took advantage. Sub Neil Moss sealed it in the last minute with a shot from the corner of the penalty box when he latched onto a great pass from McCrory.
"Although once again our youngsters caught the eye none of my players let me down, the only disappointment is the injury to Joe Connor that will keep him out of action for a while," added Glendon.
