SIR: How can or why are companies and councils allowed to build where they like. Could it be greed?
Council people and officials told us that Singing Clough, Kearsley, the old tip, would have to settle for 100 years at least before they could build a shed on it due to the gasses.
Now they tell us they are planning a major development, major roads at the busiest road junction in Farnworth/Kearsley and they will also be building on old mineshafts and various gasses which according to safety people will be there for many years to come.
Years back they landscaped it and made it a pleasant area to walk. The area is now picturesque and wildlife is booming. Do we really want to give this up for another industrial estate.
Do we really want a cross-roads at Stoneclough Road? It's hard enough to cross the road as it is now, let alone, with another road in and out. Perhaps they will build a walk-over to enable the children to have safe journey to and from school each day. Who knows? It'ss a secret, and not for the ratepayers to know.
