A GALA Concert will be held on Saturday, May 31, at the Albert Halls, Bolton, as part of the Bolton Hospice Fifth Anniversary celebrations.
Organisers have hired what they think will be a "magical" combination for this special evening which is a joint venture with the Albert Halls management.
There is the Manchester Camerata Orchestra, one of Britain's leading orchestras, which now has its home with the Halle at Bridgewater Hall; Paul Payton, Musical Director of Bolton Symphony Orchestra, Bolton Sinfonietta, Opera 74, Corus Brass and Bolton Catholic Choral Society and Martin Roscoe the Blackburn-born celebrated pianist who is in great demand on the international circuit.
Fort Sterling have sponsored the cost of the orchestra and Warburtons have funded the soloist Martin Roscoe. Paul Payton is giving his services free and there have been private donations towards of the cost of the programmes.
Music to suit all tastes is promised including, in the first half, a Rossini-like overture by the early 19th century composer, Arriaga, the D Minor Mozart Piano Concerto and the the Sinfonietta No 1 by Malcolm Arnold.
The second half of the programme includes Gabriel Faure's romantic Pavane and to finish Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony.
Tickets are selling well and are available from the Albert Halls Booking Office on 01204 364333.
