NORTH-west businesses in the print and board industry are set to benefit from a £5.4 million programme funded by the European Community.
Environment 2000 aims to demonstrate that good environmental practice equals sound business sense.
The scheme will be launched at a free breakfast seminar at the Groundwork Environment Centre, Blackburn, next Monday at 8.30am.
Over the next two years schemes will be tailored to fit the particular requirements of each company.
Selected companies will be eligible for £5,000 towards the cost of setting-up and implementing an environmental strategy and support from the Groundwork Business Team.
In addition there is free expert help from North West Water, NORWEB and the Government's Environmental Technology Best Practice Programme.
To qualify for the programme, the company must employ between 50 and 500 employees and be located in the objective area of Greater Manchester, Lancashire or Cheshire.
