STAN Ternent today saluted his Bury high-flyers after they stepped up their promotion challenge with yet another home victory last night.
The Shakers restored their two-point lead with a powerhouse performance in last night's 1-0 massacre of Crewe.
It leaves the Gigg Lane heroes on the brink of a remarkable second successive promotion and the manager who has guided them from 22nd in the Third Division to top of the Second in 20 glorious months today hailed the men who have completed the meteoric rise on the pitch.
"The reason Bury are there is down to the players," he praised. "They deserve all the credit because they are the ones who win the matches.
"There are still 12 points to play for and a lot can happen but whatever happens the players have done a marvellous job for us.
"We don't get carried away and we'll now prepare in the same way for our next big match at home to Peterborough on Saturday. But we have enough points for the play-offs now so at least that would give us a second chance of promotion if the wheels come off in our last four matches."
