Chorley Ladies FC 7 Urmston Ladies FC 1
CHORLEY Ladies won promotion to division two on Sunday with a classy performance full of grit and determination.
Urmston started doggedly and tried to make it difficult for the league leaders, working hard in the first half to limit the home team's ambitions.
The deadlock was broken on 38 minutes when Tracy Kenyon's corner was picked up by Danni Toward who flicked the ball over the keeper and into the net.
Urmston struck back within a minute with a perfectly weighted through ball which caught the Chorley defence napping and a shot which beat keeper Karen Browne.
The goal seemed to focus Chorley's thoughts and efforts and they were markedly better after the equaliser.
Debbie Sharrock, Janine Jones and Natalie Parry worked prodigiously in midfield and Sharrock was rewarded with a fine goal a minute before the interval which she hit from 20 yards past a stunned keeper.
In the second half, Chorley piled on the pressure and a flood of goals started straight from the kick-off when another Kenyon corner led to Sharrock scoring from the edge of the box with a right foot, low shot into the corner of the net.
Chorley were obviously enjoying the game and their fourth goal came on the hour, with some neat passing between Angie Wakefield and Jo Schofield setting up Ashley Parker who still had a lot to do, but slid in bravely to beat the diving keeper.
Urmston could not match the skill and pace of the Chorley attack and their play began to look ragged.
Following a tired looking challenge, Toward took the free kick 30 yards from goal and hit a gem of a shot into the top of the net.
Urmston tried to recover by using their substitutes and switching tactics. But Chorley responded with their own changes and a sixth goal 10 minutes from time, scored by the hard working Nicki Boyle from 15 yards.
Even as full time approached, Urmston were given no respite and another well placed Kenyon corner dropped into the six yard box for Sharrock to push past a crowd of players and cap a fine performance by scoring a hat trick.
