FIREFIGHTERS rescued a horse from a slurry pit in Bury yesterday.
The horse had stumbled into the 15 foot slurry pit at Brandlesholme Hall Farm, Brandlesholme Road.
Leading fireman Christopher McNally said: "Because the horse was struggling it was sinking further down. By the time we got there all you could see was the top."
A rope was wrapped around the horse's body and 10 firemen managed to pull it out. Leading fireman McNally said the horse was unhurt, but distraught: "There was no way it could have got out by itself."
