THAI boxers are calling on Bolton businesses to back a fight night next month in a bid to raise cash for Bolton Hospice.

Bolton Thai Boxing Club are hoping to raise £1,000 for the Hospice by attracting businesses to sponsor each fighter in a special tournament at Horwich Leisure Centre on May 17.

There will be seven members of the club fighting, including North-west area champions from various weights and Bolton-based English national champion Brett Harold, as well as well as double British champion Jenny Taylor.

There will also be participation from fighters from across the country and 11-year-old Tom Montgomery will become the first junior to take part in a club charity tournament.

Club secretary Marie Fitzsimmons said: "Obviously the more sponsorship we can get the more we can get for the Hospice and we are determined to make it a successful event."

Marie's son Craig will be having his debut fight at the event since turning professional at the age of 18.

Sponsors can contact Marie on 0370 685454 and tickets are available from Marie or Sandy Holt on 395807.
