SIR: I refer to the article in the BEN April 11, "Family hit out over sick baby drama" concerning baby Amber Johson. My family and I know what they went through, as this sounds a duplicate copy of what happened to us, which was also featured in the BEN, Monday February 5, 1996. Again this was about being unable to obtain the medicine your baby needs (even though the prescription is marked 'urgent') until the following morning. It's ridiculous when you have a sick child crying and unable to help. You feel helpless and worried.
Joan Leonard acting director of development and consumer services with Bolton Family Health Services Authority stated in the BEN February 5, 1996: "Obviously on this occasion, the procedures which we operate during the night must have broken down."
It's over 12 months since this happened to us. How long does it take for the Health Authority to look into and sort out this urgent situation and hopefully stop it happening to anyone else?
