NOMINATIONS are now being sought for the 1997 North West Woman of Achievement Award.

The award is presented to the woman who, in the view of the judges, has gone that 'extra mile' - her achievements being personal, career orientated or making a contribution to community and public life.

The panel is looking for a woman of spirit and integrity who has made a difference to her life and those of others.

Now in its fifth year, the award is being sponsored by Manchester solicitors Betesh Fox & Co, and organised by its founder, local businesswoman, Jacqueline Hughes-Lundy, Associate Director of the independent financial advisers Berkeley Morgan Ltd.

The event aims to raise money for Tommy's Campaign, a national baby charity funding research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth and birth defects in babies.

Nominees have been diverse, from a cleaning lady with seven part time jobs to keep her family fed and housed while her husband could not work, to last year's winner, Lancashire Chief Constable, Pauline Clare.

This year's winner and two merit awards will be announced at a celebrity lunch at the Victoria and Albert Hotel, Manchester on May 12.

Nominations can be for oneself or for friends, family, work colleagues or employees. Nomination forms are available from Jacqueline Hughes-Lundy on 0161 833 1615 and the closing date is April 30.
