WARRINGTON are reported to have made an inquiry for Wigan prop Neil Cowie.
The Wolves, humiliated at St Helens yesterday, are desperate to strengthen their pack and with more than £300,000 available from the sale of Iestyn Harris, may tempt the Warriors to part with the powerhouse prop.
Cowie returned as substitute in the easy win over Oldham yesterday after being sidelined with a hamstring strain.
Wigan's new signing Lee Hansen missed the game again because of work permit problems but fellow prop, the reliable Terry O'Connor, produced a devastating first 30 minute spell which had coach Eric Hughes singing his praises.
"Terry had a huge half-hour and has been consistent in every game," said Hughes.
O'Connor, still only 25, says he does not feel he is under too much pressure of having to shoulder the burden of a workhorse prop-forward.
"I'm one of the oldest but we have a very young side. Competition for places is good and keeps us on our toes. We have a good side and can match anyone on the day. We are not intimidated and want to keep winning games.
Simon Haughton, who topped the tackle count, summed up the feelings of the players when he said: "The team spirit is as high as ever. We are training well and although we have lost a couple of tough games we have picked each other up and it showed today."
Hughes was also delighted with centre Connolly's man-of-the-match display.
"He has had problems with his knee since he returned from rugby union but he hasn't complained once. His injury is slowly getting better but only time will tell whether he needs a knee reconstruction."
