MUSICAL football fans are aiming to score a big hit with a song penned to pay tribute to Burnden Park.
The shutdown of the famous old ground after its glorious 102 year history has inspired The Kickers to record the song Farewell to Burnden.
The Kickers' line-up includes former club singer Jack Vernon, Wayne Gibson and Mandy Tyldesley. Jack has penned the lyrics and tune which has then been musically arranged by Wayne, while Mandy provides the female vocals.
After putting together pilot tapes they had the song professionally recorded at studios in Rochdale.
Jack said: "Obviously we think it's a great song and could be a great hit and a real collectors' item in years to come. Leaving Burnden Park is a really emotional occasion made even more special by this season being such a great one for the club.
"The great thing about the song is that it's the kind of thing the fans could all join in with on the terraces."
Tapes are due to go on sale within the next week.
The Kickers will release more details soon.
