SIR: I refer to the article (BEN, April 18).
Mr Arnold Wilcox Wood has left out several important issues in his illustration of the threat from the Dumplington development.
Travelling to the Trafford centre will be a nightmare even today without the projected new traffic travelling south on the M63, drivers can expect a travelling time of about 35 minutes from the south of Bolton.
The stench from the nearby sewage works ensures that in hot weather you will get the full benefit.
For those with older cars that have a tendency to overheat in traffic jams, you will need the free mechanical breakdown service which will not include any replacement parts and will not include free recovery from the motorway network. (You won't break down in the centre).
Doctors and dentists will not take on their books all of these people from surrounding towns. Furthermore who wants to travel to Trafford when they are ill?
No matter who wins the election there will be no money for road improvements to support this centre. Money is needed to rebuild roads in those areas where people live.
Prices at these type of centres are but for the privileged few, and those with their own transport.
The growth of car crime in such centres is on the increase.
People of Bolton are proud of the facilities in the town and are looking forward to the new additions planned and will support their traders.
Come on BEN joint the battle and help win the War.
Cllr Carl Dennis, Friend of Bolton
