Farsley Celtic 0, Radcliffe Boro 1 A MIGHTY Tony McDonald header two minutes from time gave Radcliffe Boro a vital 1-0 win at Farsley Celtic last night.
The victory now puts the Boro four points clear at the top and increases the pressure on main rivals Leigh RMI who visit Great Harwood Town tonight.
Boro secretary David Murgatroyd, commented: "We were very nervous at the start but Kevin Glendon's half-time chat did the trick.
"It was a superb game and Farsley were all out for it.
"They are a tough and physical side and made us work extremely hard. Loz Greenhalgh was absolutely magnificent for us at the back and he had to be because we lost Simon Whittle on 40 minutes with an ankle injury.
"Tony Mac's goal couldn't have come at a better time for us. David Bean produced a pinpoint cross and Tony rose above everyone to power in an unstoppable header." Atherton stretched ATHERTON LR face the long trip to Workington tonight knowing that a win is absolutely vital to retain the club's wafer-thin hopes of Division One survival.
Maximum points from LR's remaining three games is the one and only target as it would see a climb off the bottom of the table and goal difference would come into the relegation equation. Ironically the only straggler outside the bottom three that LR have the potential to catch is tonight's opponents, so defeat really would spell disaster for Atherton.
Dave Morris' squad is stretched to its very limits with Simon O'Brien, Mark Stewart, Kenny Quigg and Steve Iley definitely missing and Darren Royle facing a late fitness check on his injured ankle. BOLTON HOSPITAL CUP
THE remaining Bolton Hospital Cup quarter final tie last night saw Daisy Hill scrape through to face Little Hulton United in the last four with a 3-2 winning margin over a hard-working Wyresdale side.
A strong first half performance which included goals from Jamie Vagow (5) and Mattie Bowman (20) set the foundation for Daisy. The Wyres fought back superbly in the second half with Paul Mellor on the mark twice but a 40-yard speculative shot from Chris Williams on 83 minutes settled the tie.
