WITHOUT a doubt, this outstanding production of Oliver will leave you asking for more.
The show is a triumph for producer Brian Lawson, choreographer Gillian Pilkington and musical director Ron White.
The immensely strong cast barely puts a foot wrong or sings a note out of tune.
A young Robin Armstrong in the title role is excellent heading a superb chorus line of young performers of the Band of Thieves.
The production is obviously an attempt to imitate the famous hit film - and why not? It works, and certainly does not fall far short in quality.
Philip May, in the role of Fagin, is the double of Ron Moody and performs with a professionalism to match.
As well as Fagin's classic number, Reviewing the Situation' the highlights are Food, Glorious Food and the brilliantly crafted Who Will Buy?
The sets are also wonderful, and who managed to train the dog who remained faithfully at the side of Bill Sykes, played by a menacing Joe Simmons?
It's a great night out; well worth a visit. Dave Toomer
